This is what my husband Logan packed for our 9 week backpacking trip to Central America. This list only includes his clothing and personal belongings. For a more comprehensive list of what we took on our trip check out my Central America Packing List (Female).
Shirts: 5 dry-fit tee shirts, 1 warm button-down shirt, 1 black sweatshirt
Bottoms: 1 pair of convertible pants, 1 pair of shorts, 1 pair of gym shirts
Other: 1 bathing suit, 1 rain jacket
Undergarments: 5 pairs of underwear (ExOfficio), 5 pairs of socks (moisture wicking)
Shoes: Chacos, flip flops
Thoughts on LOGAN’S CLOTHES
Other than the warm button-down shirt (which was excessive for super warm-blooded Logan), this list worked out perfectly. He did not bring any close-toed shoes, which worried me a little, but it ended up being totally fine. He has pretty small feet, so we figured we could pick him up some cheap shoes if absolutely necessary, but his Chacos ended up being fine in every situation.
2 pair of contacts (and extra cases)
Thoughts on LOGAN’S TOILETRIES
We shared a lot of our toiletries, so Logan didn’t need to bring very many individual ones. However, the biggest packing stress for Logan was whether or not to bring contacts. He was worried about finding contact solution and we were not sure what the situation would be with a mirror and water for him to change them everyday, so he did bring his glasses, which he never wears at home. He also got some cheap prescription sunglasses online. We were able to find solution, but he was really glad to have brought both regular glasses and the cheapo sunglasses because that meant he didn’t have to worry as much about his contacts getting dirty or lost.
*We ALWAYS use packing cubes to organize our clothes inside our bags. They are the best.
